Puerto Plata Beaches

Puerto Plata beaches offer the most varied landscapes of the Dominican Republic, with endless kilometers of golden sand washed with turquoise blue ocean, crystalline waters and beautiful reefs teeming with colorful tropical fish. Places such as Playa Dorada, Costa Dorada, Sosua Beach, Cofresi, Costambar, Long Beach, Cabarete, Pueblito and so many others make up the unique destination that is Puerto Plata.

Playa Dorada beach is considered the most important in Puerto Plata, because of its beautiful coastline, its many beach resorts, casinos, restaurants, plazas and its magnificent golf course. This is the first all-inclusive resort development ever created in the Dominican Republic during the mid 1980’s and still leads the sector in the North Coast. This beach extends for almost 2 kilometers from the Blue Jacktar to Pueblito Beach.

Costa Dorada beach in Puerto Plata is home to two important resorts of the North Dominican Republic, and sits right next to world famous Playa Dorada. It has an extension of close to a mile of golden sand, between El Pueblito and Long Beach. It is one of the preferred beaches for many traveler to Puerto Plata because of the Iberostar Resort, and also the Be Live Marien Resort.

The secluded Playa Bachata is a stretch of golden sand located in Maimon, Puerto Plata. This is the same location where the Senator and Playa Bachata Resorts are located, and also next to the Carnival Cruises Amber Cove port. These resorts are very famous for their all-inclusive packages and direct access to this beach, also known as Maimon on its East side.

Bergantin Beach is an off the beaten path stretch of golden sand located East of Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata. Its status as a secluded beach is about to end, because it has been chosen for one of the most ambitious development projects in the island; involving a marina, golf course, beaxh resort, and movie studio by Vin Diesel himself. A large stretch of land called Punta Bergantin will be the flagship location right next to the beach we see today.
